Dr. Armin Haas
Senior researcher
Armin is an economist specialized on the economic, ecological, and social sustainability of the financial system, as well as innovative contributions to the management of large-scale complex uncertainties.
Since April 2023, he is a senior researcher in the OBFA-TRANSFORM project at Global Climate Forum (GCF) in Berlin.
From 2013 to 2023, he worked as a senior researcher at Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies (IASS) in Potsdam. As a member of the research group ‘Systemic Risks’, he was the scientific leader of the projects Global Financial Systems & Society (DOLFINS) and Green Growth & Win-Win-Strategies (GREEN-WIN).
From 2000 to 2012, he worked as a senior scientist at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK). He headed the research group on Bayesian Risk Management and was part of a research team that conceived the Super Smart Grid.
In 2008, he was co-founder of the Munich Climate Insurance Initiative (MCII).
Armin holds a Diplom (1992) and a PhD (1999) in economics from the University of Karlsruhe.
